[06 May 2009|04:29pm]

I really want to start this group again.. but I think LiveJournal is dead. Does anyone have any ideas as to how else I could keep CDOfTheWeek going? I also may be looking for new co-mods, as one of them has declined the invitation to help me resurrect the group, and the other I haven't spoken to for awhile. The mods come up with themes and make sure that they're posted on time.

I really miss this group.

Poll #1000300 CDoftheWeek

Should cdoftheweek come back?

Yes. I would totally post mixes.
Yes. I don't have time to post my own mixes, but I like reading other people's mixes.
No. My friends page has been so much less cluttered without you and your bullshit mixes every week, you dumb, dumb asshole.
I have no opinion; I just like clicking things.

Got any theme suggestions?

Side Note [11 Dec 2006|09:05am]

Also, on a side note, is there time for/do we want to do Secret Santa mixes this year? I haven't discussed it with the other mods (see the theme announcement), but if enough people are interested and think we have time for it, I'm down.

CD of the Week - Mix 87: Sleep is for the weak(end)

I. Am. So. Tired.

But I can't sleep yet. And you can't either. This mix should be about being awake. I know it's quite similar to mix 72 (wakin' that butt up), and also mix 48 (hubris RULES aka I KICK ASS - the mix) but I like to think there are subtle shades of difference. Personally, it'll probably just be a pump up mix for me, but you could also include songs ABOUT being awake, or maybe even insomnia.

As usual, what are you waiting for?

I Watch The Rooftops Glisten [29 Nov 2006|05:33pm]

[ mood | awake ]

So what, like a week and a half late? No big deal.

This week's theme is pretty self explanatory, but you got a lot of room to stretch out in, I think.

Since it's gettin' chilly (or if you're in Memphis, TN: chilly, warm, humid, cold, hot?!, really cold, ad nauseum...) we're gonna be doin' a mix about winter. Yep, the season. Coldness and all that. Ice. Snow. Warm fires. All that stuff.

It's CD86 - Brrr!

Get to mixin'!

CD of the Week - Mix 84: Biomusicolographology

Well, it's Halloween. But sorry, no Halloween theme. If ya wanna, ya should. In fact, it was Mix 34. Instead, I want to call your attention to the Mixer's Manual - aka, High Fidelity.

If you haven't read the book and/or seen the movie, at one point the main character is reorganizing his record collection - however, he doesn't do so alphabetically or chronologically; he does it biographically. If this doesn't make sense, just look at the next paragraph, in which I describe this process.

He orders them by when he bought the album. Therefore, every order will be different, and noone will know where to find anything in the collection but him. For example, My first album would be the Beach Boys - Still Cruisin', followed relatively soon by The Presidents of the United States of America, and then shortly by The Beatles - Abbey Road.

So, this week, you will make a mix that spans your lifetime, starting with the first albums you ever bought, all the way up to the most recent. It's simple to do, but takes a buncha words to explain.

So yeah, get on with it!

[ mood | busy ]

Hey, so this is only, like, what... three days late? Mid-week?

This week's theme is about movin' on, splitting town, getting the heck out.
It's CD83 - Leaving. (clever title, right? it's a requirement, you know)

This isn't a travel or road trip mix, it's just about going. Whether leaving a lover or heading out west, it doesn't really matter. Just effin' leave.

I really doubt this needs any further explaining, but if you're stumped, please don't hesitate to ask.

Now get to mixin'!

I'll make you a tape
